A Message from President TyJuan J. Cratic

April 16, 2004

Dear Democrats,

It has been my pleasure to serve as President of the Southern Illinois University College Democrats for the 2003 – 2004 school year, and to work with a great group of people that I would not change for the world. The SIU College Democrats could not be where they are today without the hard work of everyone in the group. Thank you for your hard work and dedication throughout the year. I want to take an opportunity to highlight some of the experiences and achievements of the group from the 2003 – 2004 school year.

September 2003
1. The SIU College Democrats hosted Democratic Senate Candidate Gery Chico to Southern Illinois University.
2. SIU College Democrats attended the Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Sorority Dinner with Guest Speaker state Senator and Democratic Senate candidate Barack Obama.

October 2003
3. We attended the Citizen Action-Illinois Convention with all the Democratic Senate Candidates.

November 2003

4. The SIU College Democrats attended the Andrew Jackson Democratic Dinner in Jackson County, Illinois with Democratic Senate candidate Blair Hull.
5. SIU College Democrats attended the Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner in Des Moines, Iowa with the Democratic Presidential Candidates, hosted by New York Senator Clinton.

January 2004

6. Democratic United States Senate Primary Debate, “The Debate for the South”, with the six democratic senate candidates: Chico, Hynes, Obama, Hull, Skinner, and Washington. We are greatly proud of this, because it was the only debate with all the candidates in Southern Illinois.

February 2004

7. Voter Registration Drives, SIUCD registered over 450 new voters on campus.

March 2004

8. Individual College Democrats campaigned for their candidates, and worked to get students and others out to vote in the March 16 Democratic primary.

April 2004
9. The SIU College Democrats attended the Illinois Federation of College Democrats Convention that was held at the Univeristy of Illinois in Urbana, IL. Guest Speaker was Democratic Senate Nominee Barack Obama.

The College Democrats are proud of the past events that have taken place on the SIUC campus and off. We look forward to the next school year at SIU, and working with a new President, and we hope you do as well.

Thank you,

TyJuan J. Cratic
President 2003-2004
